About Inn The Doghouse

Founded in October 2003, ITD is a safe hangout for friendly city dogs and cats. Daycare with our pack includes social fun, games and a little education. Sleepovers and Grooming is also available, where your dog can play and exercise during the day, be kept safe at night, and go home smelling good. While your pet is at ITD, we will enjoy and love them almost as much as you do.

"When you can't take them with you, take them to Inn The Doghouse."

Lon Camp

Daycare Manager

Lon graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Kent State University in 1999. Lon’s animal career started at Place A Pet Foundation as PR Director and was promoted to Shelter Administrator where he helped organize community events such as the "Respect the Pet" campaign at Nautica in the Flats, which raised money for humane education in schools and brought awareness to the animal abuse issue. He collaborated with the APL of Cleveland, the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter and the City of Cleveland Kennels to transfer adoptable dogs to the Place A Pet shelter. The adoption rate went from 50% to 90% under his direction. He continued to sit on the Board of Directors and collaborate on spay/neuter clinics, grant writing and other formats which affected animals in the Cleveland and surrounding areas. He grew up on a farm and had many pets throughout the years. While having lost his beloved Golden Retriever this past year, Lon is uncle to his best friend Nicole's fur children: two 11year old cats, "Huey" and "Dewey".

Matt

Canine Concierge

Although he always loved dogs, he never realized his passion for their care until 2000. Matt attended Ashland University for Hotel/ Restaurant Management and worked at a large chain restaurant as the Head Baker. Not finding satisfaction in the restaurant industry, but feeling the strength of the human/animal bond, he went to work at the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter where he was a dog warden for almost ten years. In addition, Matt has worked at Gateway Animal Clinic for over four years in continuing care for many furry friends. Matt is a nationally certified animal control officer from NACA and certified in animal first aid from the American Red Cross. He also sits on a local animal care Board of Directors. Matt lives in Parma Heights with his fur daughter, "Kemo".

Heather

Heather’s animal career started at Lake Erie Nature and Science Center (LENSC) in Bay Village at the age of 16. During her vocation with LENSC and continuing after, she worked at a local pet store. Heather first came to Inn The Doghouse in October of 2006. She took a brief sabbatical from ITD in the beginning of 2009, but returned later that year in September. Heather resides on the Westside of Cleveland with her two fur children, a Doberman named “Nova”, who has been attending daycare at ITD since she was a 4 month old puppy, and her mischievous cat, named "Bad Bad Kitty".

Scott

Canine Concierge

Scott’s love of animals started at a very early age while growing up with a multitude of dogs. As he got older, he traveled the country on many adventures while continuing his passion for all animals by volunteering and getting involved in community run projects that benefit their welfare. After returning to Ohio, he decided to maintain his love of animals in a significant way by working at the Cleveland Animal Protective League. While at the APL, he worked with canines in need of extra attention on a behavioral level, to ensure they were adoptable to a good and loving home. He is still involved with the APL fostering program, as well as promotes a trap and release program for feral felines in his neighborhood. Scott shares his life with his partner, Jess, his beautiful daughter, Riley Quinn, along with his awesome dog, "Paddy", 4 cats, a snake, a bearded-lizard and 2 sugar gliders…for now!
